Our people

Some of our key people include:
Guenter Hauber-Davidson, our Managing Director, is one of Australia’s leading water conservation practitioners. Guenter has been instrumental in developing leading edge water conservation design tools and models. He is also at the forefront of developing innovative rainwater harvesting solutions. His current focus is on sustainable recycling.
To date, he has been involved in the development and delivery of well over 100 water savings projects. He also developed a smart water meter. Guenter is one of only a few water conservation experts who have had extensive involvement in the implementation of large scale integrated water conservation schemes. He holds an MSc in Environmental Engineering having spent all of his career working in the water and wastewater treatment field.
Mitchell Dixon is a civil engineer with ten years experience in the water industry. His experience is in designing transportation and treatment systems for water and wastewater, ranging from small pump stations through to pipelines and large water supply systems. Mitchell is also experienced is writing technical specifications and contract documentation. Since joining WaterGroup in 2007, Mitchell has performed dozens of water use and savings assessments for industrial facilities, office buildings and hydraulic design of rain and stormwater harvesting systems. Mitchell has recently project managed a $600k stormwater improvement project for Blacktown Council involving multiple suppliers and subcontractors across 4 different sites.
Mitchell has previously worked at Sydney Water in their water conservation area. During this time he was part of a program focused on reducing leaks within the water supply network. He undertook feasibility studies for recycled water schemes for the manufacturing industry and irrigation. He has also worked in community relations educating the public and school children on how to save water. He has a passion for innovation and sustainability, coupled with a practical mind to create water saving systems that can work for you.
Ryan Dillon holds a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science. He joined WaterGroup with commendations for Academic Excellence and Outstanding Achievement from the University of QLD. Ryan is a member of QLD Conservation Council’s executive board and as a Brisbane Regional Ministerial Forum participant he is involved in representing community views about environmental issues at ministerial level. Most recently he has been involved in Water Resource Planning and Policy with the Department of Natural Resources and Water.
Julian Shortt is our Senior Water Savings Engineer in Melbourne engineer. Our clients appreciate his ability to quickly understand a site’s water use and needs. Julian has a drive to design and implement solutions that help save water. He is excited to be applying his knowledge to the field of water conservation, and expanding WaterGroup’s skill set to include wide ranging sustainability considerations such as the greenhouse emissions associated with water use. He is experienced in water use assessments, designing and implementing process solutions, smart metering and carbon-in-water analysis. He is now transferring these skills to help our clients in Victoria and nationally to identify and cost practical sustainable water savings solutions.
Julian has worked previously worked overseas for 3 years with United Water in NZ where he was responsible for the design and project management of a water leak detection program, hydraulic modelling, integrated wastewater management planning, and proposals for a wide range of water and wastewater projects.
Rex Sullings is one of our specialist irrigation consultants. Rex has worked in the urban irrigation industry for over 25 years. Rex brings a depth of experience and knowledge derived from hundreds of major projects in irrigation and water conservation implemented nationally.
Is our love affair with stormwater harvesting emotional or can it be supported by rational scientific arguments? Guenter Hauber-Davidson runs the numbers. BEN
