Productivity Commission Report on Australia’s Urban Water Sector - 15/10/11

 Among findings are:

    • Water restrictions are likely to have cost in excess of a billion dollars pa (nationally) from the lost value of consumption alone.
    • Conflicting objectives and unclear roles and responsibilities of governments, water utilities and regulators have led to inefficient allocation of water resources, misdirected investment, undue reliance on water restrictions and costly water conservation programs.

Stormwater Harvesting Fund Round #3 - 11/08/11

This is probably the last round. $100 milion available. Previously funded projects are listed here. Key points are:

  • Fund is for urban stormwater harvesting and reuse projects. Any owner. Includes reducing the impact of urban runoff on the ecological condition of receiving waters .
  • Max funding is 50%. Minimum project size is now $2 million (eligible for funding of $1 million).
  • Project work must be completed by 30 June 2016.
  • Applications close 7 December 2011.

Victorian Government Sustainable Sports Grounds Program Fund - 7/07/11

The Sustainable Sports Grounds Program will help local communities implement sustainable Water management practice and achieve high levels of use and participation at sport and recreation facilities.  Only local government authorities are eligible to apply directly to the Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD) for funding for this program. Clubs and organisations seeking to access funds should discuss their proposal with the relevant local council. Funds available up to $100,000. Applications close 10 August 2011

Stormwater harvesting and reuse projects – 3rd Round - 21/06/11

The Australian Government is calling for applications for funding to support eligible stormwater harvesting and reuse projects under the National Urban Water and Desalination Plan: stormwater harvesting and reuse grants round. Projects are sought that capture, treat and use stormwater to ease the pressure on drinking water supplies and deliver improved water quality to our urban waterways. Project minimum $2 million (eligible for $1 million funding).
