New Funding Announced
Tune Up Canberra is a 50/50 ACT Government grants program to encourage owners of commercial office buildings to make their buildings more energy and water efficient. Water utilities' record annual $8.1b investment
A national report card launched by the Parliamentary Secretary for Water, Mike Kelly revealed Australia's urban water utilities invested $8.1 billion in 2008-09, up from $4.5 billion the year before. The 90% increase reflects the timing of major capital works programs to deliver new sources of bulk supply through desalination plants, recycling projects (stormwater harvesting) and new pipelines.
